About Irina
Irina studied contemporary dance, linguistics and literature and since 2002 works as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher. She is also certified Iyengaryogateacher. Born in Rumania, she grew up in Germany, lived and learned in France, Argentina, Senegal and Switzerland. Since 2014 she is based in Düsseldorf with her 6-year-old daughter. Last productions in artistic collaboration with Gabriele Koch (Wuppertal) were the site-specific forest performances Chrysalis and into the woods
She is vividly interested in how the human body communicates beyond language and how the impact of nonverbal communication is reflected in other bodies – whether we are dancing or just being – and what it is that moves us.
